The Intel® Enpirion® EP5357HUI/LUI are 600 mA DC-DC step-down (buck) converters with integrated inductors that achieve a total solution footprint as small as 14 mm2 without compromising efficiency.
A complete power system-on-a-chip (PowerSoC), the EP5357HUI/LUI integrates power switches, controller, compensation, and the inductor in a tiny 2.5 mm x 2.25 mm package.
The 1.1 mm profile and small footprint enable the use of this part where space is at a premium. In addition, this point-of-load solution requires only two tiny multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), reducing the overall solution cost and simplifying the supply chain.
The EP5357HUI/LUI utilize a 3-pin VID output voltage selector with two VOUT ranges that allows the designer to choose one of 15 pre-defined output voltage levels, or an external voltage divider can be employed to set the output voltage. Output voltage settings are available in two optimized ranges, providing coverage for typical VOUT settings. The VID pins can be changed on the fly for fast dynamic voltage scaling. The EP5358LQI also has the option to use an external voltage divider.
